Aztecs Demolish Parkland 13-0
On Jan. 15, the El Dorado varsity girl’s soccer team faced Parkland High in a home conference game, coming up with a stunning victory 13-0.
“Our goal was to execute and come out playing our style,” said Coach Adriana Enriquez.
It was the second district game and the first home game of the season. Senior Riley Perez showed what it takes to be a captain by leading the Aztecs with the the victory. Her performance in the game led the team with three goals and one assist. Another captain, senior Natalie Gonzalez led the team with the most assists in the game with five assists.
At the first half, El Dorado was leading 5-0. Enriquez motivated the Aztecs to keep moving forward and to not let their guard down, although they had the lead. The second half started and within the first few minutes, Parkland High school let two goals pass them in a score of 7-0.
Moments later, El Dorado scored six more goals, leading to a blow out of 13-0 in front of excited fans on the home field.
“My expectations are to make it to the state tournament,” Enriquez said. “We know winning district is important as well, but our main focus is to get into the state tournament.”
The Aztecs play next on Friday at 5:30 p.m. on Horizon High School’s turf.
