Orchestra Collects Supplies for Needy Pets

Students can bring items to the orchestra room Dec. 17-21

In exchange for enjoying the melodies of the holiday season, presented at the Winter Concert on Dec. 18, the orchestra, guitar and choir students are asking that all guests to the event share the cheer of season of lights with needy pets in the community.

The fine arts groups are asking for donations of pet food, toys and supplies that will be given to two local animal shelters, MuttLove Dog and Cat Rescue and Law N Paws Animal Rescue. Items are being accepted in the orchestra room now through Dec. 21.

The cold temperatures and financial constraints that accompany the winter season often bring higher volumes of homeless pets to these shelters. The supplies will help shelter workers and foster homes to care for needy dogs and cats.

The dog items in need include Purina Proplan dog food or comparable dog food, toys (only rubber, no plastic or rawhide), dog beds, crates, and puppy pads.

The cat items in need include Purina Proplan cat food, or comparable food, cat toys, crates and cat litter. Other items that are needed include bleach, blankets, towels, wound care items, paper towels, crates and unexpired pet medicine.

The Winter Concert starts at 6 p.m. in the theater. Admission is free, but all guests are asked to bring at least one of the request items to help needy dogs and cats in our community.
