The El Dorado Aztecs faced the Montwood Rams Friday night and were determined to come out on top. Both the JV and varsity lady warriors beat the Lady Rams in three straight game wins.
The varsity girls started off the first game with a strong lead and finished with an even stronger one, beating the Rams 25-19, but struggled during the second match.
Coach Roel De Anda was constantly reminding the girls to not get comfortable with the score and to make each point count. The Aztecs were down 7-12 but with hard work and wise words of encouragement from De Anda, came back to lead the Rams 15-12.
It was a back and forth battle from there with the Rams scoring one point and the Aztecs scoring the other point. They eventually won the second game with a score of 25-21. As the third game came around, the Lady Aztecs found their footing again and won with a score of 25-19.
The varsity girls will take on Franklin, which is one of only two teams they have lost to this whole season, at 6:30 on Friday at Franklin High School.
