DIY: Bubbling Bath Bombs

By Claudia Juarez

Does your plain bath need a bubbling effect? Well, don’t fret because these mermaid bath bombs are sure to boost your inner nautical self and bring relaxation to your bath.

Yes, yes, we all know how expensive bath bombs can be. However, what many people don’t know is that bath bombs are very simple and can be made at home for free with many household ingredients.

Supplies:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salts
  • 3 teaspoons coconut oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ocean breeze essential oil
  • Lilac, mint, and peach soap dye to preference (we used 10 drops of each)

In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients and then divide into three bowls.

Then, divide the wet ingredients into three small bowls and mix them together (this also includes the dyes).

Afterwards, gather the small bowls of the liquid mixtures and mix each liquid mixture with a dry mixture. Don’t blend each color with each other since it’ll blend in the later process. Add oil if necessary since the mixture needs to stick together to mold.

Once the wet and dry ingredients have finished mixing, pack the mixtures into any mold that you’d like and layer them on top of each other. If you want it to mirror the Lush bath bombs, you can use plastic fillable balls.

Lastly, refrigerate for an hour and pop it into the bathtub whenever you’d like.
