Make a Fall Fun Bowl
By Kiahni Christmas
Fall time is here and this DIY is a fun way to get into the fall spirit. This fall bowl is an easy way to bring color into your dining room. It can be used as a centerpiece, and as a storage tray. It is an easy way to get into the fall season. Here are the basic things you need to know about how to make this fall craft.
Materials:
- Leaf garland (can get at local craft store)
- Mod Podge (preferably the matte finish)
- Foam brushes
- Assorted balloons (red, orange, and yellow)
- Scissors
- A medium to large-sized mixing bowl
Steps:
- Begin by snipping the leaves off the strand of garland, and cutting the entire steam (with veins) off the faux leaves; this will help the leaves mold the shape of a balloon. (Leave about 1/8” at the base)
- Following up, fill the balloon up to size.
- Once you finish gathering the leaves, and filing up the balloon; use the mod podge and gently apply a thin layer the top of the balloon – starting from the middle and working your way outwards.
- After the balloon is covered in the glue, lay leafs throughput the balloon and soothe with your fingers or a foam brush, when it’s all stuck in place – put a thin layer over all of the leaves.
- Repeat previous step, covering any empty spaces with smaller leaves
- When you reach about a quarter of the way down the balloon, add one or two leaves to the bottom of the bowl for extra weight and support. Allow to dry at least an hour
- After it is all finished, carefully pop the balloon with a pin towards the tied end and slowly let the air out.
