TAFE Collects Donations for Elderly

By Ariana Contreras

TAFE is asking the community to help the elderly by making sure they are comfy and cozy in the cold months of winter. Starting this week through Jan. 27, TAFE will take donations of blankets, socks and pillows to give to The El Paso Health and Rehabilitation Center for the Elderly.

“It’s fairly easy to donate, and we need all the help that we can get,” senior Naomi Silva said. “It’s a great way to give back, and help those in need.”

This idea of helping out the elderly was brought about by the TAFE cabinet. They decided it be best to have not one community project, but two this year.

“We wanted to get involved in the community more this year,” senior Kiahni Christmas said. “So we decided it would be great to get involved with the elderly home.”

According to Christmas, just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean that it’s time to stop giving to those in need.

“It’s really all about helping out and nothing beats the feeling you get out of knowing you did something great for someone else,” Silva said.

Donations and extra helping hands are needed to help make this project successful. If you’re interested in taking part, please drop items off in rooms B104 or B105 by Friday, Jan. 27.
