Smiling brightly at the camera, juniors Iratze Rede, Aliana Acuna, Miley Pinon and Frida Estrada take a picture at Texas Tech University after competing in the UIL regional competition. Cramming last-minute practices between the competitions, the girls prepared more than ever. “I loved being surrounded by my favorite people,” Acuna said. “I honestly felt a mix of emotions because I felt confident in some of my responses but I am so happy I accomplished one of my biggest goals.”

Extra Steps. Taking the long way to get to the student parking lot, senior Mia Jade Colmenero walks along the newly-installed fence alongside the football field on April 16. Instead of walking down the concrete, Colmenero had to walk to the softball field to exit the wall of fences. “I honestly think the gates will cause way more of a safety hazard to us, in case of an emergency we will all be trampled to get out,” Colmenero said.
