Zombie Fest Scares in First Year
By Xytlali Compean
It was all fun and brains Thursday night at the El Dorado Zombie Fest. The event hosted by DECA and Media Tech, took place in the lobby from 5-7 p.m. Zombie Fest’s main attraction was the short film competition between the media tech programs of all SISD high schools. Once the clock struck 7, everybody made their way to the theater to experience a night of great fright.
The short films all had to meet certain criteria, be about zombies and were judged by industry professionals, and district superintendent Jose Espinoza. The winner of the contest received $200 and a traveling trophy. Socorro took first place with their short film, entitled “The Cold.” Eastlake took second place and El Dorado won third place.
Zombie Fest, an concept originating at El Dorado, is expected to be held next year, after this first year’s success.
